SCOPE
of Micro-Fluidization
|
March 2007

|
Welcome to our new subscribers! Micro-Mail SCOPE
is our application focused newsletter which reports
the broad "Scope" of possibilities for Micro-
Fluidization. Each month we send you successful
scenarios showing methods of applying fluids
and lubricants which result in less consumption and
better overall manufacturing performance.
We hope you are having a successful first quarter.
Whatever your current results, UNIST systems can
help you find additional cost savings and operational
improvements related to fluid purchase, handling,
maintenance and disposal. Since these activities
often represent 10%-20% of total manufacturing cost,
they are worth taking a look at. Give us a call, or send
a message to micro-mail@unist.com

Vegetable Based Lubricants: Price vs. Efficiency
From the Corner Office - by Wally Boelkins, President, UNIST, Inc.
We often are asked about vegetable based machining
lubricants---their quality, price and usage rate.
Lubricant quality runs the full spectrum and
determining the true quality can only be done by
comparison testing of finish quality, production rates
and oxidation properties. Normally, less expensive
lubricants are less pure and require more lubricant
volume for equivalent machining results. Although no
one can accurately equate price per unit volume to
efficiency, there normally is an approximate
correlation.

Critical Drawing Requirements
Roller Lubrication Combines with Downstream Spray to Complete Drawing Process
A stamper of small to mid sized automotive
components began to acquire larger presses in order
to take on a broader range of parts. When their paint
roller and spray lubrication methods started to prove
inconsistent with larger dimensions and longer die
progressions, they looked for a solution they could
more precisely control throughout their die
progressions and draws.
