Coaxial Tubing Service Life.

Coaxial tubing does not have a fixed expiration date. Service life is dependent on operating conditions and material aging over time.

This tubing design consists of:

  • Polyurethane outer tube: carries compressed air
  • Nylon inner tube: carries fluid

Key Factors Affecting Life

  • Temperature exposure
  • Fluid compatibility
  • Air quality (moisture, contamination)
  • Mechanical stress (flexing, bend radius, vibration)
  • Environmental exposure (UV, heat)

These factors can lead to hardening, brittleness, cracking, or reduced performance over time.

Service Life Recommendation

Because service life varies by application, a fixed lifespan cannot be established.

Regular inspection and condition-based replacement are recommended to ensure reliable performance.

When to Replace

Replace tubing if any of the following are observed:

  • Loss of flexibility or hardening (PU outer tube)
  • Cracking, splitting, brittleness
  • Brittleness in the nylon inner tube
  • Reduced or inconsistent fluid delivery
  • Leakage
