How to Eliminate Air Pockets in Uni-Max HV System Reservoirs

To completely remove air pockets from a Uni-Max HV system reservoir, the reservoir must be emptied and refilled from scratch. Follow these steps:

  • Lower the reservoir air pressure to 0 psi using the air regulator adjustment.
  • Depressurize the reservoir by manually sliding the valve to the OFF position.
  • Remove the pressure relief valve using a 7/16" socket or wrench.
  • Install a 1/8" NPT nipple into the pressure relief valve port.
  • Place a suitable container beneath the nipple to collect the grease.
  • Pressurize the reservoir by manually sliding the valve to the ON position.
  • Slowly increase the air pressure using the air regulator adjustment until the grease begins to flow.
  • Once the reservoir is empty, reinstall the pressure relief valve.
  • Refill the reservoir with the appropriate grease.

Safety Considerations

  • Always follow standard safety procedures when working with pressurized systems.
  • Ensure the system is fully depressurized before removing any components.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and eye protection.
  • Dispose of collected grease according to local environmental regulations.
  • Refer to the Uni-Max HV product manual.
