How to connect Uni-Roller®S2 HG air cylinders to a SmartFlow®controller.

2023-07-06

Some Uni-Roller®HG systems have two solenoid valves, one for the small cylinders (upper roller carriers) and another for the large cylinders (frame). However, there is only one applicator open/close output on the SmartFlow® controller. Users have a few options for controlling the cylinders.

The first option is to wire both solenoid valves into the applicator open/close output on the SmartFlow® controller. When the user pushes the roller open/close button on the SmartFlow® screen, both cylinder sets will open or close.

The second option is to wire only the large cylinder valve into the applicator open/close output on the SmartFlow®controller but remove the small cylinder solenoid valve and connect shop air directly to the small cylinder regulator.  When the user pushes the roller open/close button, the large cylinders will open or close, but the small cylinders will stay extended continuously.

The third option is to wire only the large cylinder valve into the applicator open/close output on the SmartFlow®controller and allow the user to wire the small cylinder solenoid valve into their own controller and control the small cylinders that way.
