Uni-Max Pro Flow Sensor Calibration Procedure
The Uni-Max Pro system can be equipped with flow sensors to monitor the output of each pump and verify fluid dispensing with every pump stroke. If the system was ordered with the flow sensing option, the sensors are factory-calibrated for Coolube® fluid. When using fluids with different viscosities, calibration may be necessary to ensure proper sensor operation.
To calibrate the flow sensors:
- Confirm that each flow sensor is properly connected and powered according to the wiring diagram.
- Locate the flow sensor behind each pump.
- Loosen the flow sensor set screw and slide the sensor all the way toward the manifold.
- Using a non-ferrous tool (such as brass, aluminum, or plastic), slowly move the sensor toward the pump until the red LED on the sensor illuminates.
- Move the sensor very slowly back toward the manifold until the red LED turns off.
- Tighten the flow sensor set screw.
- Cycle the pump and physically inspect the output to confirm fluid is being dispensed.
- Observe the flow sensor during operation to ensure the red LED flashes with each pump stroke.

Once calibrated, the flow sensor signal can be monitored by a PLC or any compatible input device (5-28VDC). The signal should go high within 50ms of the pump stroke, with a typical delay of 20ms. This monitoring can alert operators if fluid is not dispensing despite pump actuation.
