“There were a lot of large HEM bandsaws for production and fabrication as well as half a dozen large Mavel’s for sectioning met lab samples where I worked 5 years ago. They all had water-based coolant system which gave ok results but even with daily use biological growth issues could rear their heads and some mild rust issues. They replaced the fab shops bandsaw with a CNC one and it had a Unist system one it. We thought it would be a joke but it was pretty amazing with how little oil it used and clean it was. Plus cuts and blade life were better. We converted several of the other older saws over to them and got rid of the coolant tanks and systems.”
