Job Summary

The CAD Designer will join our Support Engineering team and help advance Unist’s goals and strategic initiatives. This position primarily involves working in SolidWorks and serving both internal and external customers by creating accurate models and clear drawings of our systems, used by customers around the world. Responsibilities also include entering and managing ERP and PDM data, ensuring compliance with established specifications and standards. This is a key role in our growing company!

 

What would you do?

• Use SolidWorks to create models and drawings of products or designs, with a heavy emphasis on creating and using configurations within SW assemblies.

• Enter and maintain correct part and BOM data into our ERP system, ensuring it remains extremely accurate and organized.

• Obtain system requirements from the sales team and create accurate assemblies and drawings for quotes. 

• Regularly interact with cross-functional teams to ensure drawings meet requirements and project specifications.

• Assist the engineering teams with creating models, drawings, user manuals images, and other technical information. 

• As needed, obsolete drawings and part numbers in PDM and ERP systems. 

• Adapt Unist’s CAD standards to apply proper design intent. 

• Perform other responsibilities as necessary. 

 

Do you have what it takes? You must be/have:

• Associates degree in mechanical design, or equivalent experience. 

• 3+ years of applicable SolidWorks experience creating assembly models and drawings of systems used in industrial products. 

• A clear understanding of parent/child relationships within CAD and ERP systems.

• Extremely well organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and effectively works on multiple projects simultaneously. 

• Demonstrated strong technical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes. Able to learn and understand how Unist equipment is used the metal cutting and metal forming markets.  

• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.

• Strong attention to detail and personal responsibility.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. 

• Willing to accept constructive criticism and adapt accordingly. 

• Expert in SolidWorks (CSWP), SolidWorks PDM, and MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel). 

• Experience with DriveWorks, SolidWorks Design Tables, CADLink, and Epicor ERP are a plus.
