New video: The basics of RS-232 serial
RS-232 is a common standard for serial communication. While it is not the newest or most advanced standard, its simplicity makes it an ideal choice for communicating with a wide range of systems. Because it is commonly used in industry, it is natively supported on many machines. Even those that do not have native support will likely support another communication protocol that can be converted to serial, like USB, TCP/IP over Ethernet, or Profibus. All of these have a range of off-the-shelf converters that are commercially available. This allows our Quantum system to connect to almost any CNC machine regardless of the protocols they natively support. In this video, we explain the basics of this connection method.
